Two Products to Improve Sleep

I have always struggled with sleeping through the night. Even with near perfect conditions I don't think I have ever slept more than seven or seven and a half hours. My ideal sleeping conditions would be 64 degrees, pitch black, and the soft humming sound from a fan. But since that is nearly impossible to create every night (especially in the summer months), I have found two products that have greatly improved my sleep. 1) The Slumber Cloud Performance Mattress Cover, and 2) an electric heat pad.

It is not uncommon for me to wake up sweating in the middle of the night. If the room temperature ever gets above 64 degrees, I'll probably wake up. I also have to sleep with a lot of weight on top of me, so it doesn't help that I sleep with a very heavy down comforter every night, even in the summer. I have spent countless hours searching for different products that could help lower my body temperature and improve my sleep. Everything from a new mattress to water cooled mattress covers. Until I stumbled upon this simple mattress cover with lofty claims.

The Slumber Cloud Performance Mattress Cover (www.slumbercloud.com). It claims to regulate your body temperature through the night using NASA-engineered fabric technology. They said that it was the same type of material used in spacesuits to help regulate body temperature. It seemed too good to be true, but I was desperate to find a cheap solution. So I bought it. And let me tell you, it has lived up to the lofty claims!

I don't know how it works. But you put it on your mattress like a regular mattress cover, and then put your sheets on the bed like normal. The first time I crawled into bed with the Slumber Cloud Performance Mattress Cover on I instantly felt a cooling sensation. Even through the fitted sheet! I've been using it for months now with the same great results. If I ever wake up hot in the middle of the night I just have to roll to a new spot, or open the covers for a minute, and the Slumber Cloud somehow releases the heat and instantly cools down. I highly recommend it for anyone that sleeps hot.

The second product I've added to my sleep routine was recommended to me by a friend. I was watching TV one day when I saw a commercial for a Sleep Number bed. The Sleep Number mattress had a heated section by your feet. And I thought that was so strange, because I feel like most people want to be cold when they sleep. So I started doing some research and found quite a few supporting articles for keeping your feet warm when sleeping. I read that if your feet are warm it helps circulate your blood throughout your body better, and actually helps to reduce your core body temperate.

I decided to test out this theory by sleeping with socks on for a few nights. I have to admit, it was very weird to sleep with socks on, but I did feel like I had a better nights sleep! I was telling one of my friends about this, and she told me that she sleeps with a heat pad at her feet every night. I thought this was a genius idea! That same night I swapped out my socks for the electric heat pad, and I had one of the best nights sleep. I have been sleeping with the electric heat pad for several months now with the same great results!

As I'm getting ready for bed, I turn on the heat pad so that it's nice and warm by the time I crawl into bed. And if I ever wake up in the middle of the night and can't sleep, I turn the heat pad back on and I fall right back to sleep. It's very counterintuitive, since I'm actually heating up part of my body, and normally I'm trying to cool down as much as possible. But it works! I would highly recommend both of these products to anyone that struggles with sleeping through the night. Give the heat pad a try and let me know how it goes!
