The Cleaning Caddy

To start, I can't take credit for this idea. My cousin came up with this idea and shared it with me, and it has been life changing.

A common theme you'll hear me talk about is saving time. I like things to be very efficient. And when it comes to cleaning the bathroom, efficiency usually isn't something that comes to mind.

Enter the cleaning caddy:

Contents:

  • Hanging file folder container (The Container Store)

  • Glass cleaning rag (Norwex or E-Cloth)

  • General purpose microfiber rag (Norwex or E-Cloth)

  • Cleaning spray (Insight Pure)

  • Skinny grout brush

  • Magic eraser

  • Toilet bowl cleaner (Insight Pure)

  • Toilet brush (Insight Pure)

This caddy has completely changed the way I clean the bathroom. As part of my weekly cleaning schedule (to be shared later) I clean each bathroom once a week. I have one of these cleaning kits in each bathroom, and a similar one in my kitchen. The hanging file folder container is the perfect size for fitting under the sink in a very small space.

I try not to use too many chemicals. So I like to clean with either the Norwex or E-Cloth rags because they clean and disinfect with just water. I can't tell a difference between brands with the glass cleaning rag, but with the general purpose microfiber rag, Norwex is the clear winner.

You may also notice I have a lot of products from Insight Pure. It is a local Utah company that specializes in quality commercial grade products. I especially love their toilet bowl cleaner. It's effective and much cheaper than brand name products.

Here is my process for cleaning the bathroom:

  1. Clean the inside of the toilet bowl using the toilet brush and cleaner

  2. Wipe down the mirror with the glass cleaning rag

  3. Wipe down the counter top and sinks with the microfiber rag

  4. Scrub edges of the shower with the grout brush

  5. Clean the shower walls with the magic eraser

  6. Wipe the shower walls and floor with the microfiber rag

  7. Wipe down the shower glass door with the glass cleaning rag

  8. Scrub the bathroom floor with the microfiber rag

  9. Wipe down the outside of the toilet with a *clean* side of the microfiber rag

And that's it! Then I wash the rags so they're ready for the next week. Let me know if you give it a try. And, even more important, let me know if you have any ideas for making my cleaning process better or more efficient!
